Connection Machine CM-1 (1986) & CM-2 (1987)
Tamiko Thiel was lead product designer on the Connection Machine CM-1/CM2 (1986/1987), the first commercial A.I. supercomputer. She has now created this 100% silk scarf, printed in Italy, as a wearable celebration of the machine. The machine was the fastest computer in the world in 1989, its hardware and software legacy live on in Google's AI technology, and its visual design strongly influenced Steve Jobs. Connection Machines are in the collections of MoMA New York and the Smithsonian Institution.
